SPAM also stood for the Society for the Preservaton of Advanced Modulation, according to the 1976 membership card that I still have, signed by Hoisy Hoisington, W4CJL, who passed away a few years ago well into his 90s. Although "Advanced" is on this particular card, I think its one of the fashion
