You're correct Bob. It can be a very effective method of advertising and contain useful information that the reader can relate too. It sometimes conveys a lot more user information then a long bullet string of features and specifications. I'm surprised more rig manufacturers aren't using this type

In my current 32v3, I used KT90 modulator tubes in AB1, these are high voltage KT88's. I used a phase splitter to drive the grids, a 6SN7 I think. Removing the driver transformer has benefits, no phase shift, no loss of frequency response, less space needed. You can also unbalance the phase splitt
