There is another also. It's called the Classic Exchange...or CX for short.
One weekend for
AM/SSB/FM and the other for CW and held twice a year! Sure...AM and SSB. In
my experience, the

Best Heathkit AM Transmitter
The original comment was regarding Best Heathkit AM Transmitter. Best is
a very subjective
term, as we have all seen. References to Vikings and/or Valiants or other

Interesting topic, and many responses. Seems we all have a great deal to be
thankful for.
Here, at KC8JX, I have:
National NC-303 paired with a Heathkit DX-100B (main AM station; NC-303 great
on SSB and CW))
Drake 2C/2CQ paired with a Drake 2NT (Yes, it's for CW but do listen to AM on

Mike - I was successful getting rid of RF in my desktop computer speakers by
using a split ferrite

the choke then
closing the choke. Never have rf into the computer speakers now when using any

Rick - I use RG8X exclusively. However, I don't run 'legal limit' AM. I only

Though I do not have a flea market (outside vendor) space nor an inside exhibit

DonFWIW. I believe this antenna was made by Western Radio Electronics in
Kearney, Nebraska...if I remember correctly. I had one in use as a novice back
in Colorado in 1961 as KN0FRJ. It worked on 80, 40 and 15 meters, then worked
OK on 20 when I got my general. Of course that was when I use
Just a clarification."the B model and they used 6146s as modulators in

Johnson Valiant uses 6146's as modulators...do not believe any Heathkit used
6146's as modulators.
