I would love to chat on 75M, but with my 40 watts (Icom IC-718 wide open on
AM) and no amplifier (the amp sets the house alarm off in PANIC mode), you

Anyone have a single 12AX7 mic preamp schematic?
I could roll my own for a change...
Here's a high-impedance microphone input circuit that might help..

You could get any old tube-type PA system, and use an interstage audio

So you saying I should find me a crystal for my Knight T-60 and give it
a go?
Hmmm

Hmmm, Screen Modulation.. ;)
I just need a crystal for the 75m band I guess...
Or a VFO.
Someone on here (WD5JKO? NE1S? KC3OL?) had plans for a DDS digital VFO.
Who was that masked AM'er?

This is weird but worth mentioning. I had a rig with a warble and it turned
out to be the fan. When the blades were turning, it put some crud on the
power supply. It may have been a DC to AC converter in the hub of the fan.
?Anyway, jam something into the blades and turn on the rig, if

I even get it using a dynamic mic (Shure SM-57) instead of the condenser...
I wonder if my VX-2000 is heading south?

You certainly don't need -all- that, to be heard
Bow - I think a LIMITER is nice for AM. Maybe you could add that

Bow,
I suggest that something early in the chain is generating a low-frequency
oscillation, which is beating with your audio, particularly your lows,
generating a form of intermodulation distortion. . Maybe something in the
Behringer VX2000 Mic Preamp is either taking off, or maybe it's
south?

I was playing around with AM, because I have never used it for AM before,
and recording the audio, because someone on an internet forum actually said
the outboard processing is a waste on AM...
I listened to your audio clip. It really sounds to me like all your FX
units are fighting each other to some degree. Example: I can tell you
have a fair amount of de-essing set on your VX2000, you also have a good
amount of high-mid and high EQ set on your PEQ-2200. This in itself
