Icom is coming out with a new hf/sat rig the IC-9100. It looks to be a bit
pricy at around $3000 or so, but it will be newer technology. I sold my 910
to make room for one on my desk :) I did keep my trusty 14 year old 847 I
purchased new. I would recommend the 847 over the 910, and if you have

1. Update on the Technical talk
At long last, the IC-9100 received FCC approval last week, so it may finally be
hitting the market. I talked to an ICOM rep at the Orlando hamfest on
Saturday, and she said they still do not have any in the USA. There are photos
on the ICOM website. Still no official word on price, but it
I might suggest an Icom 821H.
I had used mine on Sats for many years and works great with SatPC32.
It is now upstares in closet. Maybe I should sell it?

Hi Everyone,
If anyone needs grid square CM89, I'll be in Colusa, California next
Monday (February 21, President's Day) with my portable satellite gear.
Back in December a number of hams mentioned that CM89 hasn't been on
the air in a few years, so this will be a good opportunity to take a

Hi, Jack
Yes. SatPC32 v12.8a works with Win7 64-bit. I have it running on two PCs

I am working on a deadline today - I just need a couple of you to reply ...
Regarding SatPC32 ...
Would you recommend SatPC32 for a newbie to the FM satellites for tracking?
Easy to update AMSAT keps?
Easy to set up home coordinates? (Still need to register to have that

THANK YOU - Between public replies here, a phone call, and private emails, you

Excellent point, Nigel.
But my presentations are geared to folks who may not be as, well, adept at
things compared to you and I. And, because I offer complete contact info to
them for support (Including home and cell telephone numbers), I'd really not
try to work out a software problem - when

Clint,
Fox is the next spacecraft after Echo (AO-51) and the one before Golf. :)
It is usually referred to as AMSAT-Echo, though there are variations.

It is the sixth satellite of the microsat series so is given the letter F
until orbit is achieved. The phonetic conversion for F is Fox as Echo was

Hi Clint,
Fox is the follow up satellite to Echo (now AO-51)

One thing you might want to consider is the online tracking sites like the
AMSAT site and the N2YO site. I had a lot better luck with them than the
downloadable utils like SATPC32 when I first started working the FM birds.
If I got the times rights, the online sites were more accurate than the
