I'll be working portable from FN21 in NE PA Poconos for most of the summer
using my FT-847 and eggbeaters. Finally got things set up today and worked
quite a few stations on AO-7 FO-29. SO-50 was the usual mess hi hi.
Haven't yet tried LO-78.
I've learned that I could really use a 2 meter mast

trouble with the power lines on the last SO50 past.. but this next one
around 11:30pm Central time looks better for me at 55 degrees above my
horizon. Look for me... I know it's kind ofa late pass, but I manually

All:
Thanks to all that I was able to work from Washington, DC. I have worked
many new grids from many stations that have gone portable and I thought it a
great opportunity to give back and hopefully even perhaps offer FM18 as a
new grid for someone. I worked the 20:27 UTC pass from here with 2

The sat passes here don't seem to be working out too well, but Sunday looks
better.
Here's the schedule I'll try for, as long as we don't get showered upon:

My two cents worth-- I like the ELK for portable operation first because it
lays flat in the trunk and it is a single feed line antenna (although the
front line is unusual) I do use an Arrow also with two feed lines to a

I am a relatively new ham (1.5 months) and I have caught the satellite
bug. I own a Kenwood TH-D72A which from reading this list and some
others is a great little HT to operate satellites.
The issue is an antenna. I live in an antenna restricted area so I am
not sure what to do.

Hi,
I am in the process of uploading my logs to LoTW, and I sent a request for a
certificate for KD8KSN/8 to cover my portable operations in Ohio, and I set the
begin date and left the end date blank. After I did that I realized that you
can only have one location per certificate. What

So I'm trying to move away from my big, dumb, heavy sealed lead acid
batteries for portable work, at least when I have to lug the gear very
far. Has anyone had any experience with something like these:

Hi all,
Later this month I hope to be trying some satellite operation from a boat
from the seas around Scotland, Norway and up inside the Arctic circle.
I have my trusty Kenwood TDH7 and Arrow combination for possible FM use but
have been wondering whether to take an FT817 for SSB transmit
UPDATE 12/13/09: I have run the ZAGG spark portable power pack through
a couple charge cycles. It is impressive. I am working on a deal where
if you purchase one, $10 will be sent to AMSAT. Stay tuned ... I will
be creating a Web page with detailed information. - Clint Bradford,

If you are operating away from home and want to send out QSL cards, is it
acceptable to use your home card and note corrections to the location?
Can I just put portable FM17 in the notes field? Should I strike
through my home grid?
