Just tried operating on HO-68 roughly an hour ago since the FM repeater was
On and all heard was silence as I called CQ. Was anyone else on or is HO-68
having problems with the FM repeater?

I have been trying to work HO-68 on fairly good passes but can no hear a
thing. Sometimes I think I hear faint voices but that could be wishful
thinking. I am new to using the sat's but have been around the hobby for

I am wondering with the lack of Operational Satellites up at the

I've been away from the birds for a while, and when I checked the HO-68
schedule for this week, there appeared to be no times available with East
Coast/Europe openings. If that's correct, is that the usual case or a fluke?
I'm sure someone has asked the control ops abt. it.

Sometimes when HO68 is not advertised by Alan to be ON, I can hear
myself on the down-link frequency. Why is that. Is the sat really ON,
or am I hearing intermod in my own equipment? BTW, this was during a
near overhead pass.

When HO-68 was at AOS this evening here in Europe I decoded a telemetry
line at 19u18 utc before making contacts on the transponder.

I did not hear HO-68 on 12Jan on the afternoon
North America passes. This morning 13Jan it was not heard
at 1408 UTC either. The beacon appears to be off as
well. Let's hope this is not a serious problem.

The 1530z 16Feb pass of HO-68 over North America
had more packet on it than I've ever heard before.
I'm not sure that the BBS is working properly but
the satellite is sending a lot of packets in response
to user requests. Maybe those who are using the BBS
can comment on how it's working.

HO-68 over Europe is a reality, but with some degree of frustation. I heard the
bird at 10 degrees (loc KM17), I called and I made two QSO's with RZ6MB and
Nikolay, UR5BFX, with excellent signals. May be these are the first QSOs over

continues to affect the voice repeater in such a way that it
can be difficult to make a contact.

Just something I noticed on the 1845 Ho-68 pass. For 2 days I have been
trying to download the directory without success. I uploaded 3 files
now, but still couldn't get the directory.
I then switched to voice mode with PL=67 Hz, and then tried again
and the directory came screaming down.

Few hints that can make the difference:
- Uplink polarization (L/R/H/V) setting has LARGE influence in signal strength
(read: HO68 is rather sensitive to polarizaton on the uplink)

Well I can report like many others, the SSB operation is excellent and
clear comms.
My switch on was at 5 degs going North to LOS and I worked ZS6Y, ST2NH,
ZS1LS & ZS6BNE.
I was still copying at zero degs the stations in the North !
