Please can somebody provide me with some information. I am
relitively new to the analog software and I am wondering why when I
run the software I am presented with the line
Unwanted Logfile Entries - followed by a number higher than the
requests for pages on the site.
Does
I'm trying to configure analog to read only log files from one month at a
time. What is needed in the analog.cfg file to achive this. I have tried
adding:
>From 990701
To 990731
The report does not generate a report.html with anything in it.Please can
you help me.

Today I download an installed analog4.02 on the Unix server that hosts
my web site. From the telnet prompt it runs just fine. My problem is
with the installation of the HTML form and corresponding CGI program.
After editing both files a hundred different ways the closest I have
come is the error:

I run Analog to produce daily reports. Reports should cover the period from
1:00AM to 0:50AM (24hrs). For some reason they only report from 1:00AM to 8:0)AM.
Can anyone explain why?

The FROM and TO were in the right format in your previous message.
(FROM yymmdd). But if the logfile has no entries between the FROM
and TO dates, the resultant report will be empty.

FYI: It seems a UNIX server will give the error that a program failed to run if
that program is not able to locate a neccessary file. In this case, analog was not
able to locate the language files and the reason for that is more subtle and

I am looking at my netcache log file
which is being used by analog 4.1 to produce a report file.
The 1st column of the input log
file is in the following format:
977279750.720
This is used to calculate Unix time but how can I translate it into a more meaningful time & date?

Before we looked after web sites ourselves, our ISP used to email us weekly
Analog reports for each of our web sites. This Analog email report is the
perfect format for us and our clients, but now that we have switched ISPs we
have to do the reports manually.
This is VERY time consuming

Depending on what operating system you are running, you should be able to automate
most of these steps. Analog itself can do much of the work for you - especially if you
put most of the configuration into a common config file, and include it from a custom
one for each customer.

A friend wrote for me the following script that we've called mergelogs.cmd
(for windows). The script merges all log files in a directory. Hope it
works for you too. wouldn't know what to do if not:
