I've solved the issue.
The solution is to simply get the meta-data separately from the
MediaPlayer-stuff by connecting to the stream from time to time with
HttpURLConnection and extracting the meta-data.

I've been doing some comparisons of Android
Geocoder.getfromLocationName with Google Maps to do a simple geocode
of an address to a latitude, longitude.
The specification of an address is much more flexible with Google
Maps. Google Maps allows more ways to specify an address compared with
Android

I called T-Mobile customer support and got Ariel (Albuquerque office)
She did an OTA (Over-the-air) to my phone that downloaded my cell
number onto the SIM card.
Then she had me power cycle.
It Worked!!
