Hello all,
It's been a while (2 years!) since this thread went quiet, so I thought the
year end for those of us on the Gregorian calendar might be a good moment
to put out a call for news of live Arches installations around the globe.
Why not share a link to your Arches-based system here and
the lines. Up in

Hey everybody,
We reach what feels like an important milestone today - 5 years since the
Arches Project Google group was opened up as a public resource. If you dig
into the message archive you'll see that the group first started up a year
or more before that, following a project meeting hosted
Great to hear from you Jens, and thanks for signing in. I'm sure the
expertise you will find in this community can help you evaluate Arches, so
do ask any questions that occur to you.
What project takes you from Wessex to Berlin?
All the best

Hello all,
I'll be at Day One of the Arches workshop in Liverpool, UK this week, so I
hope to meet a few of you there in person, as well as online.

Fascinating request Vince, thanks for raising it - I'd be interested to see
how Arches handles this use case as well. It's a common heritage issue -
either competing or equally valid interpretations of a given artefact or
site based on the (always) limited evidence that archaeology provides.
A bit off-topic for this group, but in a troubled world open-source
software is, in my opinion, part of the solution. So here's a message of
thanks to all US-based contributors to the Arches project. Hope you enjoy
the holiday.

Hello George,
Thanks for the post. I am sure there are others here better placed to
answer this from a technical standpoint, but to help get this question
answered, could you say a bit more about what support for these standards
would allow you and other potential Arches users to do?
All good
Sounds lovely Jim - thanks!
We're now up to 317 members in this group. That's a lot of expertise...
If anyone else who has joined recently would like to share a bit about
themselves, their interest in Arches, (and what they can see out the
window) that would be great.

Hello Jim, and welcome to the Arches community!
As far as I can tell (though others may correct me - which would be great)
you are the first to mention historic garden recording here. From an
English perspective, of course, gardens are something of an obsession, and

Hi Sara and welcome to the Group!
It's great to be welcoming a new member almost four years to the day after
the meeting, at the Getty in Los Angeles, that set up this group to support
the Arches project. A happy time for all of us who were there to remember.
The group here now has wide

Hi Ali,
In case it helps your thinking, the MIDAS Heritage data standard developed

Hi again Ali,
That's an interesting extension to Arches. Perhaps you could say a bit more
about the type of contract and project work you have in mind? Are you
looking to Arches to provide active project management support (e.g.
tracking tasks and schedules for time and cost) or as a more
I would second this (+1) as a valuable additional feature for Arches. While
personally I'm very much on the Open Information side, there are sites
which need to be managed (and receorded in systems such as Arches) without
making precise locational information availailable to all.

Thanks Chaitana,
As a non-technical member of the group, I'd love to have a Windows
installer for Archaes. I've just recently bought a Windows 8.1 laptop, so
I'm hoping at some time to be able to install my own Arches database to
experiment with.
All good wishes

Hello Chaitanya, and welcome to the Arches project forum!
It's great to hear such enthusiasm for the software that supports the

application of Arches for use in future versions of the software

Hi Lucy,
Welcome Lucy! that sounds like a facsinating project, and an amazing place

Hi Yiannis, Arches folks,
I have three days personal development leave available this year which I'd
be happy to use on reworking (or starting reworking) the User Guide, if
that would help, and its not too late? I've no experience with Pandoc (but
that would be the 'development' bit :-). Not
