They suggest you set up an email address that is used for Ariel only. Then go
to document - settings - email (I think) and add the server information, return
address, etc., and set up how often emails should be downloaded into Ariel. The
articles it finds go into the received article queue as
We have Ariel 4.1 and when we send (in the send queue, not send to
patron option) to an e-mail address, the status is sent unless there is
a problem.
If the status remains ready, the article is not received. Normally Ariel
tries a certain number of times to send the ready articles, then stops.

As long as you've enabled email sending, and entered any necessary account
information for your own sending account, you should be able to send from the
Send queue. There are, however, a couple of issues related to sending to an
email address from the Send queue.
First, it's intended only for

It leaves a pending, probably because
it hasn't received a response from an ariel machine at the other end of
the line that the transmission is complete.
And sends as TIFF.
