I use either baretail or Notepad++ (http://notepad-plus-plus.org/) for most log
files and have created a Notepad++ user defined language descriptor for some
Remedy related files a couple of years ago.
This colour-codes the files for easy reading.
The following files are included:

Yes, this is also possible. Thanks for the reminder!
I had problems with this method on the first version of Notepad++ I used and
therefore reverted to the APPDATA setting method, but I suppose that those
issues have long been resolved with all the versions that have been released

I am in the process of building a view (SQL Server 2008 R2) to use with
Dashboards. The view needs to convert enumerated values to text values and
epoch time (integer) to Date or Date\Time.
The Case function works well and is not an issue. However, the Epoch time

Use the CONVERT function:
select convert(varchar, dateadd(s,C3,'19700101'),108)

I'm somewhat new to Remedy and I've been introduced to Notepad++; great tool.
I'm curious about the xml file discussed below (userDefineLang.xml file); where
do I find this file?

Ah, the simple treats on a Monday morning. I knew about and enjoy using
Baretail, but didn't know they had a Baregrep. Thanks for sharing!

I agree with Brian as well - UltraEdit was my editor of choice for the better

I would be glad to provide it, but I haven't actually created a language

I will do that soon. Might make it a little easier.
If anybody would like to throw in some input, I wouldn't complain.

UltraEdit can, I believe. I know it can use (s)ftp to transfer files and I
know it can monitor the files that it has open to see if they change. I
honestly have to say I don't recall trying to monitor a unix file through
ftp but I am fairly confident that it can.

Oh, yes - the ability to register a site's ftp login and edit files directly
without the extra down/up load steps is also a pleasure, particularly for doing
quick website work.
