Hi Howard!
We've been using CRExport for years and have even developed a Remedy App around
it that schedules reports to be run and uses an escalation to kick off the
reports and optionally mail them out in .pdf attachments to users using the AR
Email engine.

Hi,
While going through the code we found that the line break tag 'br' has not
been closed anywhere in the code.
It should be ended up properly as /br.
For e.g. in the below code the line break tag has been started, but it
doesn't seem to end up anywhere.
Existing code:

Hi,
the existing code is correct. Line break must never have content, and it
must never be closed. For HTML, the correct syntax is br, for XHTML
br /.

In order to give response to this question I wrote this approach:

Jaya,
I experienced a similar issue with recent upgrades...and what I found worked
was to shut down the email engine on the node that you are upgradingfor
some reason, the installer recognizes that the port is in use, but not that the
app using it is the email engineso just shut down

Will suggest to first disable those. That will give you time for doing more

Due to the Product Catalog being used incorrectly for a long time, we are now
in the position of having to clean it up. One way to go about this would be to
delete everything in it and import corret data to refill it.
My question is about the deleting part. While
Hi,
Yes, we can change RMI Port in emaildeamon.properties.
One of the cause of error could be new port number. Please check if new port
number is in use.
Also please check below steps.
1. Stop the AR Server services
2. Perform the changes in emaildeamon.properties file and save the file

You can check if the port is in use using netstat. For example. to see if
port 1100 is available:
[user@server AREmail]$ netstat -na |grep 1100
*.1100 *.*0 0 49152 0 LISTEN
If you get a line back that says LISTEN, it means that the port is already
Jaya,
Also set the start option Manual during installation so that it dont start

It seems like your version of remedy is still using C plugin for
Webservices. That is why you have references to
/opt/remedy/ARSystem/bin/libwebservice.so file.
Did you check if the file really exists in that path?
At some point of time BMC converted this C plugin to Java based.

Hi,
Yes, libwebservice.so file exists in the path specified.
And the Plugin Port : 7156 entry also appears in ar.conf file.
In the pluginsvr_config xml, i see that

From your reply the plugin for webservices is indeed java based and is
using port .
Go ahead and the following line to ar.conf and restart ars which will
restart the plugin server to take the new parameter.

You should be OK with this as long as you are prepared to update any

BMC has directions for clearing the Product Catalog. It includes the forms
to clear the records out of as well as a few workflow objects to disable
while you delete. Just put in a ticket to Support.
