We had a similar issue. And it was related to the ranking form. We have 3
application servers that are server grouped and had them ranked. We
noticed on the ft_pending table records were being placed from the non
indexing servers. So we just deleted all servers except for the indexer.

Do you know if the AR server is receiving the initial SYN packet? Is the client
receiving the SYN/ACK packet? Window size shouldn’t really come into play until
the three-way handshake between client and server has been completed. If I
remember correctly once the TCP session has been established
I totally agree with Brian. You would be spending way too much time trying
to rename than you would with adding a new role that fits your requirement.
Besides even after you successfully rename assuming you found every workflow

we are using Remedy ARS 8.1. 3 Mid-tier servers.
Apart from that we got a Business Objects 4.1 SP5 server on which we installed
another mid-tier (the installer wouldn't allow you to install the viewer only
anymore).
In the end, we just want users to print. And we got all the .rpt templa
I would recommend adding versus modify the out of box values unless you are
positive you traced all the workflow that may be using the out of box values.
This could potentially break a few things. The roles are very basic terms.

Hi Joe,
You seem very particular in your requirements. Why not try it out for example
on the AR System community to find out if it works as of your requirements?

This will allow you to give constructive feedback to make sure the ARS
That seems possible too. Kind of a good idea too. A customer gets to keep
their costs low as well as have the systems hosted on premise. Kind of a
perfect example of keep the cake and eat it too.
Maybe BMC should try to market that strategy a little more to make their
pricings more attractive t
Nope. The customer owns and maintains the hardware. BMC may have a VPN or
something to access it, I don't know.

Yeah I am very curious about the upfront costs as well. If I were to
guesstimate, the upfront costs (cost of system, licenses, annual maintenance
& support) may probably be more or less the same with Remedy probably being
slightly on the higher side by about 5% or so. That would be my expectation

I would think that too. I'm guessing what might have been done is while the
physical systems may have been hosted at BMC's network, they may have used
their own domain to web enable it? And probably have a private network to
access the systems directly? Just a guess.

Youre right thats difficult to do. Licensing costs themselves vary from
customer to customer. Ive seen multiple companies work up RFPs on Remedy
systems and be quoted different licensing and support costs from BMC. And

I plan to do that after this service completely stops. No point in doing it

will be better to know what's really missing after a hard switch. Right now

We use Business Objects and BMC Analytics, but we don't do it in the "normal"
BMC way with a standalone server supplied by BMC. We had to work with support
to get a copy of the BMC Analytics universe, and install it on our enterprise
server that all of our applications use.

While on this topic, does anyone have a cost comparison between these two
tools? I know this could be a complicated question as the cost of owning
these systems isnt just cost of systems, licenses, hardware, etc. but also
cost of implementation by way of time and resources. But lets leave the time
Thomas,
Is this the BMC version of Analytics? If so, did you purchase the Crystal
Reports for WEBI or you are just attaching a Crystal Report?
What version of Remedy are you using?

Hello Bruce,
we installed and configured Mid-Tier on our Business Objects 4.1 SP5 server.
When we try to run a Report we get this error message:
Failed to process the request!!
Adding Crystal Report "PrintIncident.rpt" failed. No authentication credentials
were provided to the FRS. (FWB 00058)
Hey,
Whats the question?
We use BO 4.1 SP6

Hi Experts,
We are facing frequent FTS failure issues with global as well as local search.
And records are getting piled up in FT_Pending table as well.
So we are planning to implement monitoring alerts on the FT_Pending as well as
FTS /collection/ folder to proactively manage FTS issues.
You may want to do a Netstat command during the attempt and see if you get any
syn/sent errors which can lead one to think the firewall change is the culprit.
Have you reached out to them to see what the change was? Sounds pretty easy to
figure out if the change really caused your issue.

There was a recent firewall upgrade in our network and after which we are
unable to connect client tools to ARserver. Has anyone face this issue
before.
