Hi Dan,
This is sad news for me, but I suppose it was inevitable with the way
current market trends are going.
Thanks for all these years of keeping the list up!
The ARSList was a life saver for me on a good number of occasions over the
years and I've met some good folks here.

Hi Anonymous,
This might be a browser cache issue - open the form in Mid-Tier and press
Ctrl+F5 to force the browser to get a fresh copy of the form from the server
instead of using it's cache on your PC to display the form.

Hi Dan, Sandra,
This may or may not be useful at this point, but you can use the URL encoder
to find out what the correct string is to use to embed in your URL for your
form:

Hi LJ,
I had a little hardware trouble with my laptop dying on me, but the
manufacturer has now repaired it under the warranty, hence my late reply.
You’re welcome. I hope it helps.
I never bothered to compare the new online documentation version of this to the
old documentation, but
Harsh,
I agree with Fred & Rick, it makes more sense to rather have it as a property
rather than only as some text appended to the name, but you would need to have
BMC automate keeping both conventions going to make it backward compatible with
existing workflow.

Hi Joe,
Because most of the companies I work with, that uses Linux, use RedHat, I
initially chose RedHat for my demo/testing VM.
When I found out that RedHat is only "free" for a limited time (about 30 days
if memory serves me correctly), and that you will need to buy a license to get

Hi Lisa,
It sounds to me like someone has set file system quotas on your server.

Hi Carina,
We upgraded our "Custom-Only" 7.1/10g/Slolaris server recently to
7.6.4/11g/RedHat.
I always suggest NOT to skip a major version when doing an upgrade, due to the
fact that BMC only supports the last 3 versions, and therefore, might not test
their software during development for upg
Hi Misi!
Personally, I haven't used DDE.ini in years, but you could try something like
this:
Command1=[App.Minimize()]
Command2=[NEW("G:\ABC\ARS-files\rek.xlt")]
Command3=[PASTE()]
Command4=[CLOSE(1)]
Command5=[App.Maximize()]

Rick,

LJ,
Is it possible that you are thinking of the old “Flat-file DB” option we had in
versions prior to 4..x (if my memory serves me correctly)?
As far as I am aware, we never had Slolaris x86 support for AR Server.
I tried forcing the install on a x86 Slolaris dev VM about 2 or 3 year
James,
This is to allow you to, for a specific field,

attempted to change the field value or not . OR -

Hi James,
This is possible indeed. I have done this many times in the past for my
previous company (another BMC Partner) in order to do development and demo's
on ITSM etc.
The catch here is that you are guaranteed to have BAD performance of an ITSM
VM if you only have 8GB RAM or less.
If you use
Hi Prathap ,
Development Cache Mode also makes things slow when multiple developers use
the same server to do development.
We have had to change our development server to switch off Development
Cache Mode to get things to run smoothly.

Hi LJ,
It used to be like that, up to ~v5.x or so, but AFAIK, the issue you
mentioned has been fixed.
The problem used to be that ARSystem validates the server license against
what it deemed the Host ID to be and the Host ID was linked to the MAC of
the first NIC.
The AR System server woul
Hi Rick!
You are right about the comparison between ITIL and COBIT, but COBIT, like
ITIL, is a framework, not a solution to the problem.
Back when the dinosaurs were still roaming the earth, I once did COBIT 4.1
foundation and found that it had some merit, and a couple of good things to
go and im
Hi Tony,
This is easy if you create a simple data form and an active link that gets
attached to all your active forms used by your users on Window open.
I have created such a form for the same reason and it works well.
You can use archiving to clear old data from this form.
