I can follow the logic of why this might be happening. The Alias is
view-specific but the Value is not. Since you are in Best Practice mode
creating a new field will automatically created it as an overlaid field.
This allows you to change the Value. Since the field isn't in a view it
isn't in a
ng it?

I got a OOB form where overlay is already created. I then want to create a new
Selection field that is not in any view. Here is how I do it:
-Open form where the overlay is created.
-Right click on the default view. Select "Create
Create overlay for everything.
Make sure you have created overlay for default view also.
