Just be careful not to mix functional testing with load testing. LoadRunner is basically designed to test concurrent transactions. WinRunenr can be used to validate functional testing (ie what happens under different scenarios). Both are important, but you don't necessarily want one to

We have used Loadrunner successfully against Midtier 6.0, 6.3 and 7.01. We have not tried using it against 7.1 though. Remedy Midtier is a fairly standard java application. If the people creating the scripts in loadrunner have used it against a java application before, it should work similarly

Our test team is saying that when they try to do performance testing as soon as mid-tier opens a popup window (Open Window Action : Dialog) they loose visibility to the application. Has anyone experienced something similar and is there anything I can do to help them get it working on Mid-Tier 7.1
