Hello everyone, We are going to publish the April issue of the newsletter within a week. I am writing this email soliciting unpublished articles on any topic that will be relevant to the worldwide Assamese electronic community. The newsletter Posoowa will be published on assam.org as usual.

Why do you say that the Assamese cannot live and grow by themselves? A strong, secure, united India is the geo-political guarantee of the survival of Assam, which is India. This statement is just a slogan. Assam, which is India: what is meant by that? An Assam which is exploited by India? An

Whether you say it or not, your writing clearly gives the impression that you equate the domain of Hinduism with India. That is OK as a cultural concept, but it shouldn't be expanded to a political concept. India can be one cultural domain, but could be several countries in a political sense.

Himen da, Do you think all the places and the lands which are influenced by Christianity should be one country? What about Islam? Every land that is Islamic should be one country? Why equate Hinduism to a country? Your view of Hinduism as a nation is very limiting and not backed by any data.

My main concern is that when we re-spell Assam, we should do it for ourselves, i.e., we should try to be as close orthographically possible to the actual original pronunciation as it is pronounced locally. If we are going to take a stand, we shouldn't spell it for others, we should spell it

Santanu, That is not a correct characterization of what I said. I believe Assamese nationality or Assam's nationality is to a great extent based on a common language, lingua-franca shared by the people. If this is considered shallow, you should say France or Germany is a shallow nationality!!

I will go further than Chandan da. If one plebiscite fails in Assam or Kashmir or Nagaland for whatever reasons, it doesn't seal the Assam nation's or Kashmir nation's on Naga nation's fate for ever. Such plebiscites should be allowed every 10-15-25 years say, at least every generation, if
