The WWII did not reach the coast of US mainland. Hawaii was not one of the 50
states till 1959. May be Chomsky thought it would be too 'technical' to include
Pearl Harbour:-)

It is interesting to note that , one of the remarks he made on India during a
visit in 1996 was
