I'd love to see you benchmark your setup to actual max+1 calls, then vary some independent variables like RAM, transcoding, call recording (to each of RAM and HD). And publish the matrix. Of course that's easy for me to say, but that's all I can do in this email :). On Mon, 2006-06-05 at

Hello, I have Asterisk running on Solaris 10 on both Sparc and AMD.  The performance of the system is greater on Solaris compared with Linux, due to many factors.  The most gains are received when using mtmalloc library.  Here's a link to a report I've done.  However, do keep in mind that the

These hard capacity numbers are very useful, though not exactly comprehensive or conclusive. There are too many different factors, some of which could be nonlinear, to deduce a complete model from which to extrapolate actual capacity from HW specs. However, they do seem to indicate

I'm surprised no one tested that for themselves yet. Mind you the test I did was with Intel based codec because I didn't want to buy so many codecs from Digium just to test the performance. I did the test from g729 to alaw peers with round trip audio so both encoder and decoder was working hard.
