Technically, there is no such thing as 1.5. svn trunk doesn't get a release
version number. trunk is simply trunk

It does use the same kernel for everything. It's a specially modified
kernel for the VPS support. I guess the only way to see if ztdummy works in
the VPS is to try it.

Hello Tony!
Many thanks for your valuable comments! I will write back results when I
will have some ;) This box is under preparation for production, I was
making low-level tests and some kernel/system tunings. Hopefully will
have some practical experiences (with this box) soon.
Thanks again!

Tony,
I downloaded fresh versions of asterisk 1.2.1 and zaptel 1.2.1 from digium.
I now have USE_RTC in the zaptel files. I recompiled and installed both.
I updated /etc/rc.d/init.d/zaptel and removed the other modules as I don't
have any Digium cards in my system.

You need to care about the _actual_ error, not the report there is an
error. The error is (usually) reported to the console. Reboot the
computer and type this:
dmesg -c /dev/null
modprobe ztdummy
dmesg
The output of the second dmesg will show you exactly what the error
message is.
Being that

Also, I do not have RTC support in the kernel since the headers are
included from ztdummy, I thought that Tony said that it is not
required. Do I need RTC support compiled into the kernel?
I was going to reply to your first message, but then I thought I'd see
if you'd figured it out yourself.
Hi Tony,
You do need RTC support in the Kernel, because it is the hooks in the
rtc.c driver that the new ztdummy requires.
That's what I thought. That was going to be my next step but I hate
messing with the kernel remotely. I just made it as a module like you
did and it worked. Thanks.

I'm still having my (apparantly) timing problem, but I'll do some more
testing and make a separate thread for that. I'm generating an
outbound call through Asterisk. The inbound audio is good, but the
outbound audio is sometimes staticy. This seems to happen only at the
start of the call.
