The modprobe settings have moved to /etc/modprobe.d so check that directory too. eg local.conf you should migrate all your files inside this directory. in my Fedora 12 upgrade the lircd socket address had changed to /var/run/lircd/lircd but I'm not sure if this applies to F11 hope this helps..

The Lirc Versions I have are rpm -qa | grep lirc lirc-0.8.5-3.fc11.x86_64 lirc-libs-0.8.5-3.fc11.x86_64 I moved everything from the modprobe.conf file to the /etc/modprobe.d/local.conf file but I still get the error. Thanks again Steven. ___
