As far as I was aware, only Infrant/Netgear produced the appropriate
build of SqueezeCenter for the ReadyNAS. This may have changed now they
have opened up the firmware to allow the community to assemble software
addons.
If this is still the case then you probably will not be able to run any
Thanks for your feedback. Interestingly, a 7.1 Bin file was posted last
evening on the nightly update page but is no longer present this
morning.
With regard to use of non-infrant SC, I am currently running a 7.01
SC version (downloaded from the nightly update site) on my NAS that

Thanks Sean. I remember the Arcam engineer saying that the CD player was
trying to power up the input stage of the integrated amp that was turned
off, hence the massive distortion in the head amp.
It's clearly not ideal to put two sets up outputs onto a source and
then have them not perform
I've found something else I might try for. Its an older Theta DAC (Theta
DS Progeny...or something like that). I've read some reviews on it and
seems like its well liked. Price is around $275.
About the Behringer, I'm still unsure of the analog output quality.
I've read that its not really any
Can someone confirm that SC 7.1 with TP firmware 40 will natively
process 24/88.2 rez files without in-software degradation?? I have
downloaded several Linn 88.2 files and would like confirmation of
above.
Thanks for any feedback.

I attended my local Linn dealer's wine and cheese party demonstration of
the Klimax DS last night (Gifted Listener Audio in Centreville, VA).
Ivor Tiefenbrun himself mingled with the crowd of 30 or so (I was one
of 4 women, all of the rest of whom were spouses of the real
audiophiles :)) and then

I actually like the A324 a lot.
Some adjectives I would use to describe its sound are: refined (sorry
to disagree, Phil), analog-like, accurate, musical and dynamic.
That's fine Brillo - no need to apologise! YMMV always.
I wasn't saying the a324 isnt a good
Sarah - great review of the evening. You got wine AND cheese... I'm
going to complain to my dealer (well, I got a cup of coffee and a
chocolate biscuit).
Interesting that you only got to hear little snippets - a complete
contrast with the demo I attended, but I suppose a mass event is

That's a fairly high base standard. I used a SqueezeBox into a DAC-1 for
years, and loved it. When I got my

Yeah well, if it wasn't for the the fact that they have made - and
still make - some amazing gear and some of the best-ever recordings

Ivor is a controversial figure. The older he gets the weirder he

I ain't about to defend
Yes, the snippets idea is odd, but apparently an Ivor mandate, since
last year when I went to the same dealer's demo of the Linn Keel, the
demo was done the same way. However, the snippets of LP tracks were
longer--say 30 seconds. The DS snippets were like 6 seconds! Yes, Linn
has an arrogant

Well that enormous amount of money would be precisely $0. They can
just download the source :) The real work would be making their players
speak slimproto, but even that's

Apologies - had a SNAFU with the build process, and QA wants to give it

Yes, native 88.2 (no resampling) is supported in TP v.40+. V.40 has
bugs related to the knob and the digital inputs, but 88.2 playback
works well.
If you need the digital inputs, wait for V.42.
