Should the sb3 volume always be set at 100% for best sound quality ?
I am feeding my Arcam Alpha 7 using RCA connections - feeding Wharfdale
Diamonds 9.1 on Custom Design stands.
Would Tacima 6 Way Mains Conditioner improve sound
Set it to fixed volume level unless that is too high. In some cases a
reduced setting will sound better if the fixed/100% level is
overdriving the preamp input. I have mine set to 91%.

The fixed settings is for the digital output, not analog. If you want
fixed volume for analog then set it to max and disable replay gain.
The settings are in SettingsPlayersAudio.

It looks like there is a 'direct' mode on your amp to avoid
bass/treble/balance controls, which might be worth trying if you're
after improved SQ.

Not as such, but there is a way to remap the remote keys so that the
volume keys are ignored. I've done that on my own setup to ensure that
the volume going to the preamp is always 100%, and so that the volume

I have a SB3 connected to balanced active crossover.
In my case the active pre-amp (which is also a RCA to balanced
converter) is a must (pro gear is not well driven by RCA outputs).
In my case was impossible to set the volume right without a powered
pre amp.
The CDs recording level are all
Apologies if this has been heavilly covered elsewhere, but just updated
the firmware on my Transporter, and, its o the blitz!. Doesn't work,
left display is garbled...
Can someone point me to any 'best practices' document in properly
upgrading the Transporter's firware?

I also am having ground loop issues with my Transporter but NOT due to
cable inputs...I don't currently have cable installed.
Using a 'cheater' resolves the issue but I assume that is not
recommended.
Any recommednations?

The latest version is in the 7.1 nightly release; it is version 42. In
that version the input switching problems are solved, but there are
still some issues (e.g. unpredictable degaussing rattle).

Smart call. Cheaters are very much not recommended, and in some places
violate the electrical code, which is illegal.

Is it possible that a 7.01 or 7.02 Bin build including TP V42 (not 37)
compatible with a Netgear NAS be provided for download?? This request
is related to the issue of current 7.1 builds incompatibility with
current Netgear firmware and my desire to natively stream 24/88.2
files.
If not, is it
Thanks.
But tell me how do I get a newer version than 36? Whenever I do an auto
upgrade(holding down the brightness key) and then re-check my firmware
version, it stays at 36?

Yes, I seem to recall I get the problem with the amplifier(Jolida hybrid

So does this mean the problem lies with the amplifier?
And will 'noise filtering' solve this, as is offered in the mid level
Monster 'power bars' , or do I need something
I purchased a Transporter a few months back, ostensibly to replace my
SB3+LavryDA10 combo.
Although I love my Transporter, and still need to do more 'serious'
listening, going digital out from the TP to Lavry, seems to give me a
more 'natural', sound. We're splitting hairs here of course, and,

ground loops are typically caused by a party, not one.
Are you using RCA or XLR?

I use FW42 with 7.0.1 all the time.
Simply install 7.1, go to
C:\Program Files\SqueezeCenter\server\Firmware
for 32-bit
or
C:\Program Files (x86)\SqueezeCenter\server\Firmware
for 64-bit Windows
and backup aside these 2 files:
transporter.version
transporter_42.bin
Now uninstall 7.1 and
Wonder if this bluetooth codec is finished yet?

No it addresses a different problem.
You need something to break the loop between your Transporter and the
