I tried a tube buffer in my system, and it made mp3s sound much better - more like music that hasn't been compressed. You can get a decent tube buffer for $150-$200. I think if you listen to mp3's that would be a more cost effective use of your money. -- firedog GIK Acoustics Room Treatments.

A few years ago I replaced the capacitors on an old pair of JBL L26s. It was a noticeable difference in the sound. The recap opened up the sound, most noticeably in the high end, and improved the spaciousness in the 'sound stage'. Total cost was under $20. -- MichaelJ
