the SB3 feeding my Unidisk SC
(as a DAC) via S/PDIF. Whether that's due to better control of jitter
in the incoming data stream, better DAC, or a combination of the two is
hard to say.

Oh, forgot the second system in the kitchen/dining room
SB3 digital output (S/PDIF) to a Peachtree nova, and a pair of BW
bookshelf speakers. It actually sounds quite good.

Secondly, has anyone switched from 'my' setup to something else, and
had an increase in performance? If so, what did you try?
Thanks,

Thanks for the replies.
So far, the two 'DAC's' that I've heard that I've been impressed with
are the Linn DS units (not cheap!) and the Ayre C5Xe-MP. Maybe there
isn't a cheaper way to get equivalent sound.

I did manage to use the 'FLAC frontend' to successfully copy the .wav

that WMA is pretty easy to use for lossless 'rips' - is
that ok, or should I use something else?
2. Is there a preferred wireless 'network' for connecting the
squeezebox to the computer? Is a standard G router ok, or should I
go for an N router?
Many thanks,

. A wireless router
would also allow me to use the laptop remotely. In the meantime, I'll
rip the CD's and pictures onto a USB drive (all contained within a
separate room).
I'm sure I'll have to carefully select an appropriate toslink cable to
connect the Squeezebox... you know how it is.
