Flipping through albums on a shelf is a physical effort that I often
miss (CDs not so much).Trying to emulate that on a phone will never
work well. Doing so on a laptop or tablet comes closer with software
that will display reasonable-sized album art that you can scroll
through. I always
I grew up listening to music by first selecting what I wanted to listen
to and then cueing it up.As my collection grew, I would occasionally
flip through my bins of albums, later CDs, seeing if something hit my
fancy. I organized albums by genre and even had a bin of "favorites".

I've been running Roon and LMS for several months... They cannot coexist
which means having to shut one down to use the other. I'll tell you
that switching between them is a royal pain in that it occasionally (but
not always) leaves the Squeezebox end-points unrecognized by either Roon
nor LMS
Have to concur with Audiomuze and Audiotic... bought the Roon lifetime
and love it, both for what it is today, and what it is rapidly evolving
into. The fact that I can use Roon with my multiple Squeezeboxes is
pretty amazing and was enough for me to jump on the Roon bandwagon back
in December.
Just be aware that any SP based on MOV technology will wear out in time
(i.e. stop protecting) depending upon the quality of your power,
frequency of minor surges and, of course, the quality of the surge
protector itself. Some surge protectors have an auto-cutoff such that
once the MOVs fail to
Tell us more about what your audio gear is and what surge protector
you're using. Surge protectors rarely provide much in the way of power
conditioning unless you've gone pretty upscale on what you're calling a
surge protector. But I agree completely with mlsstl that cleaner power
will often
IMHO, the answer is qualified yes, a surge protector can detrimentally
affect sound quality just as much as any cheap powerstrip or powercord
can. It is all a function of the resolution of your system, the quality
and type of the surge protector, and what, if anything, it is replacing.

There's an ebay seller (audio720) that sells B stock Audioengine A2s and
A5s at a nice price w/free shipping. I recently picked up a pair of A2s
from him and they look brand new in orig packaging.
Search ebay for 'Audioengine 5'

To chime in here... I'd jump all over either an upscaled Receiver or
stripped down Transporter. Just give me the best 24/96 transport you
can to be used with SqueezeCenter, the Controller and my own DAC.

Mind me asking what DAC you were listening through?
It's a Maui-modded Tact 2.0s with an equally modded DAC card. The
comparisons were made with the Tact RCS in bypass.

a reasonable return on your investment. But mods can
make a very positive difference and ain't that what this hobby is all
about?
If you're looking at Transporter mods, also consider Aberdeen. In my
experience, albeit not with the Transporter itself, Anthony can work
magic with his mods.
