I wanted to add that my Transporter is directly connected to my power
amp.
If connected via preamp the noise would be attenuated and thus be barely
noticeable unless the volume was cranked up.
Could some TP users please switch to an input that has nothing connected
to it and report back?
Thank
Being a Transporter user for years I used the optical input the first
time. It worked as it should until I shut down the source. I heard some
nasty grainy noise that did not alter when changing volume. It
disappeared immediately when powering on the source player. The same
effect occurs when
.
Doing the same thing.
No need for tweaking here!

I experience the same here. Occasional low noise pops at least once a
day . I am running TP directly into power amp (ps audio trio) usig XLR
connection .
A friend with similar setup has occasional pops too.

I keep hirez files in separate folder and add (24 96) to album name.

The unmodded Transporter also pops slightly when changing resolution. In
usual setups you won't be able to hear it. In my setup going directly
into power amp it's there but I can live with it. I even tried a
friends transporter just to experience the same behaviour.

Are you wired or do you use wifi?
If you are hooked to a shielded ethernet cable your hum could come from
there.

Tried multichannel hirez files too accidentally. After trying to play
those files squeezebox server did not play ANY file. Tried a reinstall
to no avail.
Only way out was a clean install. Could not figure out what was going
on.
WARNING: NEVER TRY PLAYBACK OF MULTICHANNEL MATERIAL!!

I did measuring with the dedicated Behringer micro once.

anyone hear differences? Besides, anything that is no manyfold of 48 i.

IMHO this could be the only reason for lower output voltage. Of course
thís would compromise SQ.

Neveretheless, when the SB is on and you are listening to music the
outputs are on anyway, i. e. the DAC cannot lose sync between tracks.

Not true because the Power Supply can induce noise inside (BTW even
outside) the unit that will impact the digital outputs as well (impact
on the jitter for example). Bit-exact is not the only thing to consider
for an audiophile system.
