. Draw in some warm water
and squirt it into the ear canal, a dozen or so times. The immediate
effect can be dramatic, and can last for a few hours.

In my experience, speaker cables are the single lowest-cost way to
upgrade a hi-fi system. I use the following. Many people swear by
them, they are fun to make, and the cost is next to nothing.

? In my case, it involves trying to
actually build the best possible equipment, using the finest
components. But that is a separate universe, far removed from music
itself.

DIY 300B single-ended monoblocks (total of ten
tubes) sit next to an SB3 and a plasma TV: a combination that is a sure
conversation icebreaker when guests come over. I also have a DIY DAC,
so I can't say anything special about SB3/tube compatibility.

better performance, the designer recommends a vacuum tube grounded-grid
output stage.

varying degrees) do one, or the other, or both.

actually worked with an input voltage as low as 3.6 volts...
In that case, you could ditch the regulator, and just put a high
quality 1-ohm / 1-watt resistor in series with the battery. There
would be no regulator voltage or noise issues. What do you think?

volume range. I'm currently putting together a grounded-grid pre-amp
to give myself a bit more room.

Moshulu, did you build the Monica yourself? Easy? For well under £100
it looks close to a no-risk play.
I bought the whole board, peopled and tested. All I did was to add a
couple of 1.2Ah batteries, a charger, switches, a capacitor, a voltage
meter, and an enclosure
to leave the Slimserver PC on wireless (it's in another room) -
is that OK? I could put it on a cable as well, if necessary.
Many thanks for any advice.

produces a lovely sound, superior to the Denon deck and, IMHO, to the
Squeezebox.

(in Indonesia or Malaysia, I can't remember) was very helpful and
