I realise you cant go shipping the speaker cone to the US. However, you
could probably do well gleaning some information by writing to these

Well I have taken the Castle apart, simple enough, just 4 screws holding
the main driver in. Nothing looks loose or untoward.
I have found the right track with all the frequencies to make this
speaker sound truely horrible. Imagin your wifes' (... or your own)
sewing kit full of thimbles, scissor
Good luck troubleshooting, do let us know how you get on (whenever you
get to it)
By the way you might want to think about paying your wife back for the
emotional rollercoaster there.

Anyone with older speakers need to check the drivers to see if they have
foam surrounds. You can damage the speaker playing them with defective
surrounds. The fix is easy and relatively cheap even if you send them
out for repair.

OK, I decided to take a good look at the M's first, did a thorough
external check initially and discovered that my wife had put her sewing
kit on top of one - duh, fancy not noticing that! - kit removed problem
solved.
Castle's still faulty and I have swapped leads over and it is that
speaker. So
I'm a Brit although I've lived in the US for 20yrs now so I remember the
Castle's, really great speakers!
Yes take them apart first and have a good look around in there, it
sounds like something loose, or just the screws on the front, just
tighten them gently or they will strip.
Plus you'll learn
On older speakers that use foam surrounds, the foam eventually
deteriorates. Look at whether the surrounds (just outside of the
cones) are foam or rubber. If foam and falling apart, you can buy
replacements from various sources online (come with instructions plus
glue).

Hmm don't knownthese speaker brands.
but on most of my speakers it have been good to tigthen the
screws/bolts that holds the drivers at last once after they left the
factory, however if it's not bolts with a nut on the other side but
only wood screws one should be very very carefull.

I have 2 audio set ups, Mordaunt Short MS25i attached to an Arcam Alpha

old certainly but until recently doing what I wanted without issue.
However one speaker in each pair has now developed a pronounced and
unnaceptable reson
