So there shouldn't be a bang but there are some other drawbacks so
I decided not to got the straight to poweramp route and instead put in
an integrated and run the TP at full output.

read and re read the wiki entry, i will obviously have to see where my
normal listening level falls and then try to add attenuation to get
nearer the 100 volume setting on the TP.

Have you tested the direct connection using the XLR as of yet?
In my case I found that attenuation is not necessary.

of a Krell KAV-2250 power amp.
the TP output is 3Vrms 100 ohms impedance and the Krell spec states
that the input sensitivity is 2.32 Vrms with 100K ohms input
impedance.
Will this work ok or will there be a bang?
