Seems plausable. I will try to remember this the next time I have the
pleasure to test a DAC.

My guess is that noise travels through the coax. Mainly through the
ground. The fact that each interconnect creates a small (or not so
small) ground loop probably doesn't help.

I did, using a Scientific Conversion transformer also for use with the
DEQ. Works better than the R

I'm pretty fortunate that I work only two blocks from B&H Photo. I
picked up a $8 HOSA XLR->RCA cable today on the way home and hooked it
up right along side my $35 glass Toslink cable. I had my wife A/B it
with the DEQ input screen and I could tell a world of difference with
the first
OK, I'll get one and try it. Thanks.

On the contrary, the DEQ accepts both AES and SPDIF via it's xlr

I don't know, others might.
But why would you want to do that? Do you really need the long runs that
I connect my SB3 to a DEQ2496 and I'd really like to use AES. The DEQ
doesn't have coax in so I'm stuck with Toslink for now. Does anyone
know of a mod that adds XLR to SB?
