In order to listen to music in your proposed setup, you need to have a
TV switched on, and use a keyboard/mouse/PDA/whatever to

Mac Mini S/PDIF-toslink (glass)out to Transporter digital in.
Mac Mini video out is connected via DVI/HDMI to TV allowing the TV to
