Well, maybe not weak, but I'd say you certainly can do better. I opted
for the RB1090 as my focus was on the stereo part, and I figured the

Thanks for the response. The biggest problem for me here in China is
finding the stuff. According to Rotel web site, the nearest dealer is
in Hong Knog. I'll check the BW dealer here as BW seem to have some
link up with Rotel. Certainly at 75lbs, it would be kinda tough to
carry back to

PS. I just noticed the rb1090 disappeared from the Rotel web site. I
did read somewhere that they might be working on a followup. Maybe
that's why I could get it for a discount at the clearance center :-)
Rotel is heavily into the class D technology at moment.

I added a Rotel RB1090 to power the BW speakers. Sounds quite nice.
Though I must admit that the Classe amp sounded even better, but that
one was more than twice as expensive :-)

Congratulations. Welcome to the Rotel club. Just a few questions.
Are you using the Denon

The 803s are nice speakers. They certainly look nice, too.

Pretty cheap upgrade too:-)

Interesting thread for me. Thanks to all the contributors. I have BW

I always forget the model number! I checked and they are model 753.
Ideally, I'd like to hear them next to the bw 803s, to really judge
the difference...
Thanks all for your input!

Don't get hung up on BW's. Except for the top of the line -- and even
then -- there are better, more neutral speakers for the same or less
money.
Adamslim's advice is good: find a system you and work toward that.
Meanwhile, recognize that the greatest variable, by far, are your
speakers.

Look at Dali, Harbeth, Quad, and Gradient for speakers with superb

Although to calm him down again, I agree that you could do a lot worse

Considering:
- Outlaw (990 or 970) + 7125? or 1070???
- Maybe new front
I wouldn't consider the SB3 an upgrade if you already have an SB2.
Also, the DAC in the Transporter wouldn't make a difference when run
through the Denon, unless in 2 channel bypass mode.

Were I in your situation, I would separate the audio from the AV -
that's my angle: I use a stereo system with an 8' projector :)
So that would involve getting a

I would probably suggest an integrated, as the volume might be useful

I guess the question is what are you trying to acomplish and at what $$$
Everything you have and I'm not trying to be rude is pretty mid fi (
except the Denon which is a good home theater receiver , but not a
great sounding amplifier) if I was trying to redo the system I'd start
with auditioning
i'm trying to go from mid fi to mid + fi. this system will be used for
both stereo and home theater. from the components i'm considering you
can see how much i'm willing to pay! thanks for the suggestions!

Start with the speakers! ( front mains first) Lots of good ones..
Vandersteen, Proac, BW, Thiel, Focal, Dynaudio.. Just to name a few..
Once you find the ones you love add electronics that compliment them,
not just drive them. Then source, then cables, and powerline
conditioning. The trick to a
Audio reproduction is only as good as its weakest link, so deciding what
to upgrade depends on which component is most limiting your current
system.
In my own systems over the decades, speaker upgrades have made the most
obvious improvements. The magnitude of difference between various

No! No fancy cabling!
My advice is the same to anyone: find a complete system that you just
fall in love with, and work towards that. If you just audition one
component at a time, you will never stop upgrading.
There are huge differences between systems, so listen to as many as you
can, and you will find one that
