EVERYTHING we do in our post-production facility is at 24-bit, even if
the final product is 16-bit or less!! The reason is that EVERY TIME
you do ANYTHING to that file, i.e. change the volume or do a
fade-in/out or make a simple edit or whatever, you're changing the
'number'.

Try to find the one that Geir Jenssen (from Biosphere) used to record
his climb on the world's sixth highest mountain (album name: Cho Oyu
8201M - www.touchmusic.org.uk). His field recordings (along with
Hazaard's and Christian Fennesz's) are pretty awesome indeed.

I'm sure the audio quality doesn't quite compare with the Tascam, but
portability is a huge plus.
I was comparing the M Audio Microtrack and the Edirol R 09.
I'm leaning towards the latter.

I've had one of the Tascam HD-P2s for almost 8-months and LOVE IT!
Media is getting cheaper all the time, too. I've got 4-2GB cards and a
4GB card. Each 2GB card can do almost 2-hours at 44.1kHz/24-bit. It'll
take digital in (S/PDIF) and lock to external wordclock or video sync as
well as

There is a sample of Birds Feeding on Biscuits, which sounds good even
as mp3, but he used a minidisc recorder and Sony mic*, not to mention
not much mic muff. Maybe
