Thanks to all for the help.
I think I'll go through the route DAC (1000$ one)+SB3. I now feel
confident about the remote control of the SB3.
Best.

Hello,
being the opener of the thread cited above I can say that the digital
volume regulation is no problem as long as you have:
- 16bit redbook material
- the tp above -42db or such (below that I noticed some distortion but
might be due to my amp running at 0db for the test and getting some

Cortes,
I use the SB3's digital volume control and it works well.
For a discussion of why - with red book - no resolution or dynamic
range is lost digitally see:

The volume control in the Transporter is digital, and exactly the same
as it's done in the SB3.

As far as I know the volume control in the TP is exactly the same as an
SB3 (obviously the output stage is different, but the actual
implementation of digital volume scaling is the same). Personally I
don't think that's a bad thing - I'd much rather have the scaling done
in the digital domain pre-
I read the thread, a bit confusing for me.
Let's put it in practical terms. The remote volume control of
Transporter is the same we would have in a SB3+Lavry/Benchmark
controlled with the remote of the SB3?.
Thanks.

Hi everyone,
Do you know whether the control of volume with the remote control of
Transporter is digital or analogic?.
I mean, there is loss of bits and dynamic range as with the remote
control of the SB3, or the remote control of volume of Transporter is
more sophisticated and the real change
