I've tried the brightness thing to no avail. I can turn the SB volume
all the way to 100 and it's really loud but not ridiculous levels. I
believe an attenuator will do nothing but allow lower volumes of music,
which I do not need. Do you think it may get rid of the excess noise?

Low signal to noise ratio. You've all but eliminated the signal, while
the noise has stayed the same.
Also, the display may cause noise, so you could try brightness=0.

Does anyone use an SB3 directly into a pair of tube monoblocs? I have a
pair of Quicksilver mid monos that I run a moddified SB3 directly into.
There is a low level hum coming out of the right speaker and low level
white noise coming out of the left. You can only hear it when you're
