I had the opportunity last week to listen to a Moon I-7 integrated amp.
driving some Vandersteen ce2 signature speakers. Without a doubt the
balanced connections provided a much more pleasant sound, the
improvements were mostly in the higher frequency range.

your PRE likes XLR connection. In typical home environment and short
cable lengths, the two type of connection should not make an audible
difference. XLR only reject common-mode noise PU by the cable itself,

Interesting, I've no equipment with XLR's at the moment, I guess the
XLR's and RCA's you're using are the same length and pretty short?

I have always listened to my TP with XLR. I could never understand those
that said the TP was a bit hard and or bright on the top end.
I especially couldn't understand why anyone would prefer the Bolder mod
.The Bolder was no smoother in the top but it was less resolving and it
was veiled
