After speaking w/ tech support in Cali, the solution was to RMA the
unit. It should be there today. Thankfully, it sounds like they may
fix the unit at no cost. Typically, if the unit was a Logitech branded
box they would just swap it out. In my case, since it's an original
Slim branded unit,
I tried the Xilinx reboot. I powered up holding the 1 button and
releasing it when the Programming Xilinx appears. The unit goes into
Factory Reset after the Programming Xilinx and does not come out of
the factory reset loop.

It happens. I've had it perhaps twice in the many years that I've had my
Transporter.
