thanks very much for confirming.. i saw all the comments about a cd getting clipping and the wireless spdif not being as good as the cd player spdif... but clearly this is imagination etc. before i give up on the volume control issue: can i ask please: we know that no cd player has a volume

has anyone connected the digital out of their squeezebox to the digital in of their sound card and compared a wav file streamed by sb3 or the transporter to the recording via the digital out? eg eac has a compare two wav files feature and some hi end soundblaster cards have an optical digital in.
