Unfortunately, popping sounds are still there. I have to turn the
display off to enjoy the music. My hope is FW42 will do something about
it.

Just to make sure, I'm posting a small screenshot of the file
conversation setting I currently have on Squeezecenter. This should
convert flac to wav on the server, correct?

With fw40 I no longer have popping issues.

Thanks for the info Walt. After further testing, I can conclude that the
popping definitely goes away if I turn brightness to 0 (no display)
while playing. This is so for AES, coax and toslink. There is no
popping if the DCC2 is slaved to the Transporter.
Which version of Squeezecenter are you
Cool, I found it - can't believe I missed it.
So I fiddled with the settings. I disabled native flac support and set
flac to convert to wav on squeezecenter - I still get some cracks
occasionally. I notice that the cracks become more frequent as I turn
on the brightness. It's most when
To give more background info - my setup is the same as wshields. I have
a Transporter slaved to an EMM Labs DCC2SE. I'm running Squeezecenter
7.1 with fw40. Another thing I noticed is the crackling disappears if I
turn off displays completely on the Transporter. This is only if I have
Apologies for resurrecting an old thread but I'm currently in the same
boat as wshields. I would like to try the option he mention with
setting squeezecenter to convert flac to wav on the server side but
where is this option? Has it been taken out on Squeezecenter 7?

Walter,
Is the pop occuring randomly? Or is it consistently in the same place
(eg. always when the track starts, etc)?

Pop occurs randomly. I have received an email from someone who seems to
have this working correctly. They did have the same problem when using
a coax cable but switched to aes/ebu connection and problem went away.
Don't know what slimserver version they are using though. I have tried
the aes/ebu
Anyone out there using an external clock with their transporter? I am
trying to determine if my problem could be specific to my unit. Slim
devices has been diligent in trying to find a solution, but so far
nothing has been discovered.

Aren't you supposed to set dcc2 to not use external clock? (ie. the
light on ext clock should be off)

Yes that is right. I only tried it the wrong way because Sean wanted to
see if the transporter still thought it was the master. When I set the
transporter to use external clock and the dcc2 as master(light on ext
clock off) I get the occasional pops.

Sean,
If I set transporter to use external clock and then also tell dcc2 to
use external clock, no sound comes out. If I set transporter as clock
source and dcc2 to use external clock, all is good.
I also tested dcc2 using emm cdsd as transport. Normally I would set
this up using emm labs dsd
I am connecting the transporter to an emm labs dcc2 se. The dcc2 can
provide a word clock output via a bnc cable. When I connect the
transporter to the dcc2 using the dcc2 as the master clock I get
occasional popping noises during music playback. I have used the coax,
toslink and aes/ebu
This means the clocks are not in sync. You need to tell the Transporter
to use the word clock input (in the web interface, under player
settings).
Also, you need to make sure that your DAC knows it is supposed to be
clock master.

Sean,
Thanks for the quick reply. I have changed the setting in the web
interface. The dcc2 has a button on the front where you select whether
it is the master or not and I have done that. Here is website for dcc2

Any other possible
Hmm.. we should figure out which side the problem is on. If you switch
the DAC to slave (i.e. normal) mode, does the clicking go away? If so,
that would indicate that Transporter still thinks it is the master.
Also, what server version are you running? I will ask QA to double
check it.
