There has long been a suspicion that a high wing
location would be better to get a better lift distribution across the span.
Putting a wing on a pylon above the fuselage
still gives you 4 intersections and the drag of the pylon.

That's quite a revisionist take. The Mu31 has been under development
since ~2006 (that i know of anyway).
The akafliegs are groups of students in their spare time with donated
materials, not a factory.
