I tried an internal modem,[EMAIL PROTECTED]
but it hurt when I walked.
Good ideas BUT not quite what I had in mind.
I see a story line based on an event, not unlike "Gladiators"
that would follow the fortunes and frustrations of competitors,
and organisers. The edited story would have to be edited for the
electronic media and marketed.

Not quite, it was nominated for best short film, live action, see

The stunt flying in it is quite good. It is a must see movie for all serious
glider pilots... ;-)

I think Dawn Flight is the best awful gliding movie ever made. It

Hi Brian
I believe we at Waikerie have been looking at some software from WA RTO/S
James Cooper who works with Quicken and has developed a customised for

Version of quicken. Someone on the group would have his contact details, or
they should be available on the GFA website

In the years gone by ABC has put a few gliding video's on TV. Two that
spring to mind are: Hans Werner Grosse 'Wings Across the Center' and the
'AustraGlide 19xx'. Jims right, why hasn't someone (GFA maybe?!) pushed to
see Gladiators of the sky on chanel 7, 9 or 10??

Agreed, if people saw that instead of what we see from the ground (Which is
usually just take off, a few "donuts" as I heard a non-flier call them one
day, and the landing.)
There's a lot of gliding video's out there, but how many people that don't
fly have seen them? Probably only a small percent
Gladiators of the sky..why has this documentary not made it to TV? Without doubt the best gliding movie ever made. And lets call it what it is. Floating round the airfiled in a K7 is gliding. 350km @ 130kph in a nationals is sailplane racing, and that is how it should be pitched

The following extract from Dave's post sounds very encouraging, and I do not
doubt a word of it.
Entries will be limited to 60 gliders. As Lake Keepit is a very popular
site, with great variety, (and friendly people) we expect a full field. We

Dear "boring club members"
I thought that I am the only one thinking about this but no!
Now, here is a real challenge:
There are clubs out there that are using commercial accounting packages i.e.
Quick(en)Books, MYOB etc.
How do those clubs take care of pilot's logs and glider logs?

We have been using a logging program I wrote in Access since 1996. It

Interesting! However Peter, are you in a position to estimate/guesstimate
the data base size required for an application such as Brian is suggesting -
assuming say a base load case of 100 members?

Be careful of database size with Access! The older version ('95?) only
was stable to 1GB then became notoriously unreliable. M/soft proudly
announced that they'd doubled the stability size in later versions to
2GB, carefully omitting that each record was double the size of the
previous version.

At Boonah we have been using the “Gliding Club Computer Program” for some
time to track our members flying accounts.
The program runs OK, but the members accounts reports are very poorly setout
and only available as a text file.
We were going to write a new program based around Access or Excel, t
