flying around about colour vision and flying.
I am a glider pilot and a light aircraft pilot
and I also fail miserably any colour vision
perception test (and I was a guinea pig for the
University of NSW over this enduring many of

On this forum someone recently lamented there were no controversial
posts. Perhaps I can help here.
I learnt to fly gliders many years ago through the club system and at the
same time obtained a PPL, flew tugs and generally enjoyed both types of
flying for a number of ye
I posted some thoughts on the future of gliding a week or so ago and
have been a little surprised at the low number of responses, Two were
quite hostile, another one came today quoting a favourable USA
experience with a commercial operation and its convenience and cost
versus a club operation
Could not agree more with Mike's comments, why do we all have to
belong to a club? Why can't I just join the GFA alone?
To me its like saying we can't trust you to fly safely unless you join a club!
If RAA pilots can be trusted to fly safely without belonging to a
club why can't soaring pilots
Agree, Soaring has a terrific marketable product for a whole range of
people who want to fly but I don't agree that clubs are going to thrive
if there are lots of new participants. In fact you will not get the new
participants if you rely on old style clubs to attract the
participants.

Yes it was easy, a little more complicated then Mike reports from back in
1983/1996 but still simple, I did it in 2006, download the form off the FAA
website, send it in 2-6 months before you are going there, nominate the FAA

It's the way it is, got mine back too last week losing a month. It's based
on the date the security check is completed, they claim they can only
authorise 2 years from that date, and can't make it run from the date of
expiry of the old card. Been going on since ASICs were required.
