Yesterday we gathered at Mona Vale in Sydney to bade farewell to our
friend, Alan Bones . Family, friends, ex Qantas crew and the gliding
fraternity were there in force.

Further to my email a week or so ago I’m sorry to report that Alan passed away
this afternoon without regaining consciousness. We will miss him greatly.

Alan is truly one of the greatest pilots aussie airline pilots ever to come
to gliding and am proud to have introduced him to cross country soaring.
While at Bathurst recently had a real long talk to him and such knowledge.
LAME, aeronautical engineer, pilot inc check captain, & worked with
Boein
Tom, sad news. Alan was indeed the epitome of a good bloke, and his quiet
good humour was a shining example to us all. He crewed on Dragonfly a
couple of times, showing his skills at that other sport. Please quietly add
Sandy's and my regrets to the long list that you will be conveying to his
famil

that their privacy be respected at this very difficult time
