Peter, you don't have to be a member of GFA, you can arrange for CASA to
supervise you to agreed standards, to quote CAO 95.4:-
4.1 An aircraft to which this Section applies shall not be operated
except:
(a) by an individual who is a member of the GFA, or an organisation
which is
affiliated with
And quite sadly the GFA has decided to stay in the dark ages and fight this
proposal tooth and nail (see June Aus soaring mag). Everyday GFA just
becomes
more and more irrelevant. Over the last few years CASA has shown itself by
it's actions to be quite progressive and not the evil bureaucracy th
o go there.
