Although I have not been able to find acutal documentation over there
to prove it, my Pimentel side is from Flores, so pour me a glass and
count me in!!! I know zero about Flores other than my mother has told
me that her grandmother said it has a lot of flowers.
Got a lucky break and found a

Well, I don't drink and all the relatives who would be related to me

Made a giant pot of cacciola and had the family in to celebrate! Very
not fair to share with all of us!!
Which brings up the question, any ideas where/when cacciola came from.
Was it first a part of a religious celebration of our ancestors as I

Thanks, Jay. I think I will make this for our family 4th of July party.
Doesn't look too difficult...
I did search the spelling Cacoila on Ancestry and 2 came up. One in
Brockton and one in NJ but it was US Public Records so not much info there.

I remember my Grandmother and Great Grandparents making Cacoila quite a bit
back in the day. I'm 38 now, so this was when I was around 10 and younger.
Neat fact: In New Bedford, MA- if you go to the end of the point in Clark's
Cove, there's a park called the Fort Taber - Fort Rodman Park.
Manoel and Rick,
Rick, you and I are related on the Furtado Pimental side and you said this
is on your mother's side so I'm not connected. Though Manoel and I are
related on Rita de Jesus/Jose Furtado side I thought we are all on that same
line? I'm confused.

Hermano we are related as well so I'm trying to figure out if I'm in the

John,
Count me in for the Flores Gang... I am looking for my ggranparents Antonio
Goncalves Izabel Pedro. Have no idea where they where from. My grandmothers
(Diolinda Pedro Goncalves Avila) death certificate only says Flores Azores
Island. My brick wall.

*Shirley,
I have the Flores Marriages Book and as time allows, I will search it for
Rocha. So far I have only found Silvestre Antonio Rocha,** born in Fajas**,
son of Manuel de Fraga Rocha and Maria de Jesus**, married 09/13/1849 to
Ana da Trindade. I'll continue to search but it is complicated
Here is my Flores ancestry. It was a blessing to know my great grandparents as
they lived into their late 80's/early 90's. They only spoke Portuguese, but
were very loving to me. I think my relatives were a part of the Flores
Drinking Society too. My grandmother and Ava loved drinking the

Hi Linda,
According to a research that John Roias did for you, I think we both have
Maria Travassos married to José Rebelo as common ancestors.
Maria Travassos is a descendent of Diogo Gonçalves de Travassos and Violante
Velho Cabral.

Thank you so much, George! I knew Maria Rocha was older than Miguel and
had already been married once. But that's all. The information I just
received from Mass Vital Records said Maria Rocha Sereque was SINGLE
when she died. Her address was different from the one when baby Maria
died.
Hi!
George Pacheco wrote with Maria Rocha's parents names (that must
have been on the marriage certificate): Manuel I. and Antonia L. Rocha.
Maria Rocha was born in 1846.
Thanks for any information on the rest of her family,
