Hello,
I am relatively new to the site and have been reading through some posts.
Many people mention the CCA site. Can someone fill me in? What is the CCA
site?
Thanks a bunch

Krystal G,
CCA = Centro de Conhecimento dos Acores. In English, that translates to
Center of Knowledge for the Azores. You can kind of think of it as their
regional archives, similar to the American NARA.
Here is the URL: http://www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt/ig/
They have some books
Thank you both so much!!

This record does not follow the usual format of the period and it raises a
question. I understand the basic parts. Maria daughter of Antonio Aguiar son
of Manuel Aguiar deceased an Barbara de Sousa and Maria dos Anjos daughter
of Jose da Costa deceased and Maria Apollonia all from Sao Sebastiao in
Correction Jose da Costa in not deceased.

Hello List,
I would like to encourage those of you who are still deciding whether or not to
have your DNA tested, or a relative's DNA tested.
I took the family finder test last year, on familytreedna.com. Last month I
received some more new cousin matches.

It's a little odd. The other 3 records just state filho/a (no legitimate
or natural), but they do not name the grandparents. The other 3 records
also state the mother as the wife of the father. Yours doesn't. I kinda
think they are not married and the priest is trying to be tactful.

Since these are abstracts, cross check them with the actual records on the

Oops. OK, here's what the CCA has online currently:
Santa Maria - nothing
Sao Miguel - probably about 2/3 done
Terceria - Missing Sao Salvador only
Graciosa - nothing
Sao Jorge - everything
Pico - everything
Faial - everything (don't ask me what I was thinking earlier today!)
Flores - everything
Sorry, Sao Salvador has 3 names: Sao Salvador or the Se or the Matriz
(depending on where you look). It got listed twice by accident. I'll ask
for a correction.

Hello
I agree with Laura. It's always fun to check and find new connections. And I am sure I spend far too much time trying to find how we link up.Yes, I encourage anyone and everyone to get the DNA tests. Even siblings will benefit, since they are not getting the exact DNA from each parent.Doug da Rocha

This is interesting. So they were married and the marriage was annulled
after consummation which resulted in a child. Makes me wonder why it was
annulled. I have a Antonio Aguiar married to Barbara Figuriedo having a
child in 1783. I have been trying to find the marriage of this couple and

Well that did not take long I found the first marriage which was annulled,
the birth of the child which states the marriage was annulled and the second
marriage (I can't make it all out but I think they needed a dispensation
because they were related). All very interesting. But it is not the
