I've been there two months ago, everything just like Antonio wrote, except
I got one computer free :-) I even payed in advance and made the list of
files at home and they send it to my email, no sweat!
I can only add that they don't let us see the books anymore. Last time I

you will have to ask them, there are contacts at CCA site for that! I just
spotted the lack of a / where there was a 7 in the link!
I suspect you must use some kind of script to crawl their servers, and

I was at the archivo in Ponta Delgada last summer also. There are only 2
computers with the documents online and the few times I went...I was also
able to get a computer. I tried to be there once they opened to ensure I
would get a spot. If you have a list of what you want
I'll wait until they finish, and then I'll submit a list of all the
problems they have in that listing. There's a couple of other bugs in
there, and it seems they're nearing completion.
And yes, I use two scripts: 1 to find out how many records there are in
total, and the other to get all the
No, Joao, not just you. I was wondering the same thing. If I had the chance to make another visit, I'd be looking at things that are not available to me any other way. Maybe passports are coming eventually, but I would be looking there if I were in any hurry for the info.Doug da Rocha
Eliseu,
Please put me on the list. I think I over looked your request.
Thank you!

Thank all of you for the input. It sounds like I don't need to plan too
much time at the arquivo, but I do plan to go. I had hoped to be able to
see the actual records. The certified copy of the baptism record I want is
actually for my grandfather (I mistyped), who was born in 1877.

Bettencourt is quite a common Portuguese name and is found in every island of the Azores. So chances are not good that any two random Bettencourt families are closely related. But in theory, they certainly would be. It would be a connection from maybe 400-500 years ago.Doug da Rocha
Hi Eliseu,There will come a time that I will look for siblings and other descendants of my Graciosa ancestors. It's just so remote that I am working just about everywhere else. But once the Praia records are online, I might just have to take a peek sooner rather than later. Maybe that's how I show
