I would like some help with understanding the note above the marriage
record for Jose de Viveiros and Maria de Sao Jose. Since I don't read
Portuguese I was wondering if someone could tell me what it says. Is it
correcting/changing a name in the record? Is it the bride or the bride's
mother?

The new, revamped Population Finder has been retitled myOrigins. For those
who have tested with Family Tree DNA (FTDNA), and took the Family Finder
test, you have automatically been upgraded. You can log in now to see your
deep origins and the map
Here is an explanation from Emily Aucilino about the new myOrigins:

I'm sure other genetic genealogists will post their take in their blogs
over the next few days.

Hi Fred,
I didn't check the whole document to verify this but it seems the Priest
forgot to enter the bride's parents and the Note says he advises the bride
in the document Maria de Viveiros daugther of Joao Viveiros and of his wife
Maria Martins.
hope this helps,

Wow, really cool! Because I’m half Portuguese and half Sicilian I have 24%
Middle Eastern (I guess that accounts for all of the plundering of Sicilyj!!).

Thanks, Cheri for the explanation site. I put it in my favorites so I can
refer to it whenever I need to but first I still have to understand it.

Margaret,
I don't think this is the case because the bride's parents names are listed
in the record (Jose Homem da Costa and Maria da Costa). And there is no
Maria de Viveiros listed anywhere in the record, except in the written note
above the record. I think it is something else.

On Tue,
Fred,
the note reads: I’m adverting that this bride (contrahente) her name is
Maria de Viveiros daughter of Joao Viveiros Homem and of his wife Maria
Martins and in the documents/certificates (termos) both gave their surnames
that cause confusion with the certificates that/of the bride and groom
Cheri how far back do these results go 200,500, maybe 1,000 years or 2,000. Do
they know? Which ethnicities are recent? How recent? Which are the most
distant? Do we really know more now?

My father also got a similar surprise - 1% East African Pastoralists which the map shows as Uganda, South Sudan, Kenya. I suppose it comes from a slave. We have one exposta from the late 1600s which might account for this mysterious DNA.And it was interesting to see he has 6% Middle Eastern in the
Thanks, that was kind of what I was thinking it said, but wasn't sure.
Their next child was born in 1710 in Luz, Graciosa, and makes no mention of
them not being married, so its my guess they got married sometime between
1705 and 1710. I have not been able to find their marriage in Luz,
Doug,
I got a surprisingly low 2% Berber-ish population. It was a surprise, after
my 7% Middle Eastern, on Population Finder.
I think this Beta is a strong step in the right direction. According to the
article that came out, today, it IS still in Beta, so I look forward to
refinements.
Very good points Trevor.
